LeBron James is saying goodbye to the Los Angeles Lakers after eight years with the team.
The 41-year-old basketball player is planning on playing in the upcoming 2026-2027 NBA season, but his agent Rich Paul has informed the Lakers that he won’t be playing for them.
James will become a free agent at 6pm ET on Tuesday (June 30) and ESPN reports that the Golden State Warriors will pursue him.

James going to the Warriors would lead to an all-star team led by him and Steph Curry.
ESPN is also reporting that the Warriors are looking for a “possible trade with the Washington Wizards for Anthony Davis,” which would reunited him with James after they played on the Lakers together.
For those who don’t know, James already holds the record for most NBA seasons played by any athlete, currently with 23 seasons. He began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, then went to the Miami Heat, and eventually back to the Cavs. He joined the Lakers in 2018.
The NBA season usually begins in October, with the season schedule to be released sometime in mid-August.
The New York Knicks recently won the NBA championship for the first time since the 1990s.
