Kevin Spacey is speaking out about the status of his career.

The 66-year-old American Beauty actor, who has faced dozens of sexual misconduct allegations over the years, made an appearance on Bill Maher‘s Club Random podcast.

During the appearance, he spoke about his current standing in Hollywood.

“I feel much more welcomed, and I think that things are moving in the direction that we hoped they were moving in,” he explained.

“There are certain cases where part of something is true, but it’s been rethought, it’s been redesigned, or it’s been entirely made up, certainly in the case of Anthony Rapp, which is a case that we won in federal court in New York,” he shared, referring to the actor’s 2017 allegation that Kevin assaulted him in his New York apartment while he was a teenager, explaining how the alleged story fell apart in court.

A New York jury ultimately found Kevin not guilty on all counts.

“I’m not going to lie to you, I go by numbers with scandals…if it’s like one person, I’m always like, I don’t know if I wasn’t in the room…when it gets to like, c’mon man. There’s too much smoke to be no fire,” Bill said of the many allegations over the years.

“I never said there was no fire. It just wasn’t a raging forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with an extinguisher,” Kevin said.

“You’re still in show business jail,” Bill said.

“I feel less in jail than I did. When people look at things…when people actually start to hear the facts, understand what we won in courts, I think people now look at this and think, maybe nine years has been enough…if I had been a sports figure I would have been benched for seven games. That’s what happens…if you’re hitting home runs, they want you on the field,” Kevin said of his punishment in the public eye.

Kevin Spacey recently returned to Cannes Film Festival, one year after he attended the amfAR Cannes Gala to received a Lifetime Achievement Award. At the Cannes gala last year, he gave a fiery speech about blacklisting in Hollywood and how he hopes history doesn’t repeat itself.
