The Obama family is stepping out for their big day in Chicago!
Barack and Michelle Obama attended the grand opening ceremony of their Obama Presidential Center on Thursday (June 18) in Chicago, Ill.
The former President and First Lady were joined at the big event by their two daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 25. For the event, Malia wore a gray blazer and skirt while Sasha wore a cream-colored outfit paired with a tan belt.
The family was seen sitting together up on the stage as they watched the performances and speeches.
Malia and Sasha have largely stayed out of the public eye since leaving the White House in 2017. They were 10 and 7, respectively, when their father won the White House in 2008, and 18 and 15, respectively, when he left office in January 2017.
Malia has made a few red carpet appearances in recent years as she pursued a career in the film industry.
In 2024, she was honored with the Young Spirit Award when she debuted her directorial debut short film The Heart at the 2024 Deauville American Film Festival.
The Obama Presidential Center is described as a “vibrant 19.3 acre campus located in Chicago’s historic Jackson Park. Designed to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world, the campus features a diverse array of public spaces. Head to the Museum to learn who shaped our democracy. Enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors at the Women’s Garden or the Wetland Walk. Grab a book at the Library. The campus is open daily, free of charge, for all to enjoy.”
It will officially open on Juneteenth (June 19), open from Mon – Sun 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. CT, located at 6001 S. Stony Island Ave. in Chicago, Ill.
