At the time, Rudd was more interested in playing Christian, who turns out to be gay.
He said: “I remember reading it, like, ‘Wait a minute, this is a gay character, who’s also the coolest character in the movie?'”
Amy Heckerling let him audition for both the roles of Christian and Josh, and he got the role of Josh.
Despite the stardom that Clueless brought, he was more excited to be on Broadway, starring in “The Last Night of Ballyhoo.”
