The former Formula 1 driver – who revealed he was in a same-sex relationship in July 2024 – announced in February that he and partner Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne had got engaged, and on Thursday (04.06.26), they revealed they had tied the knot at Saint-Tropez Town Hall in front of their close friends and family.
In a joint post on Instagram written by Etienne, the English translation of his German caption to their wedding photos read: “Last weekend, the first chapter of our life together began.
“Before all those who love us, I stand here with a heart full of joy and emotion to tell you how much I choose you—you, forever.
“Since we met, my life has taken on a whole new color. You have brought light to my sometimes ordinary days, laughter that heals everything, and this sweet certainty I had never felt before. With you, I feel alive, free to be myself, whole. Everything can change today, and that’s exactly what’s happening right now.
“Together, we will follow our instincts and desires, the most beautiful and essential ones. I promise to love you a little more each day, to respect you for who you are, to support you in your dreams as well as in difficult moments, and to continue surprising you and making you smile.”
Etienne hailed his new husband his “best friend” and “partner-in-crime” and is looking forward to their future together.
He continued: “You are my refuge, my partner-in-crime, my lover, and my best friend. With you, I’m no longer afraid of the future, because I know we’ll build it hand in hand.
“From today on, I’m officially your husband, and you’re mine. For the rest of our lives, I want to explore the world by your side, share the little joys of everyday life as well as the great adventures, and grow together in this love that makes us stronger.
“I love you endlessly, my husband, my everything. Your husband, forever. [heart emoji] (sic)”
Etienne signed off the message with a plug for their docuseries.
He wrote: “The final episode of “Ralf and Étienne, We Say Yes” airs on Saturday, June 6, on Sky Germany.(sic)”
Among the photos the couple shared were them signing their marriage license, enjoying a speedboat trip through the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, and celebrating their outdoor reception with music, dancing and fireworks.
The 50-year-old motor racing star’s ex-wife Cora-Coraline Schumacher – who he married in 2001 and divorced in 2015 – previously congratulated the couple after they got engaged.
She told Bild: “[My partner] Steven and I wish Ralf and Étienne all the best and much happiness.”
Ralf revealed his relationship with Etienne on Instagram in July 2024, sharing a photo of them watching a sunset with their arms around one another.
He captioned the post: “The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything.”
His and Cora-Coraline’s son, David Schumacher, offered his support for their relationship.
He wrote in the comments of the post: “I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you really feel very comfortable and secure, no matter if you are a man or a woman, I am 100% behind you dad and wish you all the best and congratulations.”
