The 29-year-old singer reacted after a video circulated online showing Lewis, 41, speaking to his rumoured girlfriend Kim Kardashian, 45, during a performance by Justin Bieber at the festival on 11 April.
The clip, which showed Kim with her face partially covered by a scarf while Lewis wore a hoodie, cap and sunglasses, was mistakenly attributed to the singer.
Lewis shared the post on X, responding to the confusion in a typically light-hearted manner after a user acknowledged the error.
He said online: “Wow guys not cool such an invasion of our privacy.”
The user later clarified the mistake, writing: “Guys it was a typo. I accidentally promoted Lewis Hamilton* to Louis Capaldi.”
The footage formed part of a wider series of appearances by Lewis and Kim, who attended the first weekend of Coachella together shortly after making their relationship public on Instagram.
In a separate post, Lewis shared a video of the pair driving at speed in Tokyo, set to the track Victory Lap by Skepta, PlaqueboyMax and Fred Again.
Lewis wrote: “HERE WE GO AGAIN. TOKYO DRIFT VOL. III.”
According to People, Kim and Lewis travelled together in Tokyo alongside members of her family, including her children Saint, 10, Chicago, nine, and Psalm, six.
Khloé Kardashian was also present with her children True and Tatum.
A source told People about Lewis: “He’s just an easygoing guy with great energy. Her family likes him and Kim’s very into him. They are both busy with their careers, but see each other as much as possible.
“It’s more than just a casual connection. It takes a lot to capture Kim’s interest and she’s definitely intrigued.”
Lewis is widely regarded as one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One.
He has won multiple world championships and holds records for race wins, pole positions and podium finishes.
The racer began his Formula One career with McLaren before moving to Mercedes, where he achieved the majority of his titles and dominated the sport for much of the 2010s.
