This week, NBC’s critically acclaimed medical sitcom St. Denis Medical is now available to watch on Netflix.

The series debuted in late 2024, and St. Denis Medical is now one of NBC’s standout comedy series.

Although the second season is currently airing on the network, the first season dropped on Netflix all at once.

Now, Watch With Us is sharing the three reasons why you should watch St. Denis Medical on Netflix in April.

NBC St. Denis Medical follows overworked doctors and nurses at an underfunded hospital — but did playing healthcare workers teach the cast any new skills in the medical field? During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Mekki Lepper and more stars from the upcoming NBC sitcom revealed what insight they gained from playing […]

‘St. Denis Medical’ Plays Like ‘The Office’ Crossed With ‘Scrubs’

NBC has had a lot of success in the mockumentary genre with shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation. St. Denis Medical is keeping that tradition alive by embracing the same format, and it looks and feels a lot like those earlier shows in terms of the way it’s shot and its style of humor.

However, what stands out about the show is that it recaptures some of the vibes of Scrubs, which was also an NBC sitcom during its initial run. St. Denis Medical has yet to fully embrace the dramatic and poignant side of Scrubs, but something is reassuring about the way that the stakes aren’t life and death on the show. This is a series that’s designed for laughs, and it leans into that.

The Series Has a Great Ensemble Cast

Allison Tolman has been in dire need of a show built around her since her turn in Fargo season 1 over a decade ago. On this series, Tolman plays Alex, a workaholic nurse who has perhaps the most genuine feelings for the hospital’s patients. She’s by far the most normal person in this cast of characters. By contrast, Wendi McLendon-Covey‘s Joyce Henderson is the Michael Scott of this hospital. She has no idea how ridiculous she is, and her ambitions for the hospital don’t line up with reality.

St. Denis Medical is back — and better than ever — in season 2 as the hospital undergoes some surprising shakeups. In Us Weekly‘s exclusive first look at the trailer, Joyce (Wendi McLendon-Covey) welcomes the camera crew back into St. Denis Regional Medical Center, saying, “A lot has happened since you were gone.” The changes […]

David Alan Grier is one of the comedy veterans guiding the show as Ron, a cranky ER doctor. But he’s a more believable character than Bruce (Josh Lawson), an over-the-top surgeon who endlessly wants praise and respect for his skills. Any good sitcom almost always focuses on a potential couple, and on this show, that looks like it’s going to be Matt (Mekki Leeper) and Serena (Kahyun Kim). The way they play off of each other is very enjoyable.

It Recaptures the Workplace Comedy Vibes From NBC’s Past

Perhaps the most welcome aspect of St. Denis Medical is that it’s not trying to reinvent the wheel. This is a throwback series that feels a lot like the workplace comedies from NBC’s last great sitcom era in the early to mid-2010s.

The show still seems like it’s finding its comedic voice, but some of the best moments allow the cast to demonstrate how they can mine comedy in both expected and unexpected ways. It’s just a fun series to watch, and we’re hopeful that it will get a long run on NBC.

St. Denis Medical season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
