Vanessa Hudgens is mourning the death of her beloved dog Darla.
The 37-year-old High School Musical actress took to her Instagram account on Tuesday (February 10) to share the sad news that she had to say goodbye to her pet.
For those who don’t know, Darla was actually rescued by Vanessa‘s ex-boyfriend Austin Butler‘s mom. The former couple adopted the dog when Austin‘s mom passed away in 2014. She has previously told the story about how they welcomed the dog into their family.

Darla quickly became Vanessa‘s companion.
“Anyone that knows me knew Darla. She went everywhere with me. Traveled the world. Was there for me every single step of the way,” Vanessa wrote in her tribute.
She continued, “She was the smartest little lady I’ve ever known. I couldn’t have asked for a better dog. I am beyond heart broken today. Putting her down was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but her little body was failing her and it was her time. I already miss the pitter patter of her little paws in the house. If you have your own fur baby squeeze them extra for me. Rest in peace my sweet girl.”
