To no one’s surprise, with nothing major to oppose it, the third installment of the Avatar series stayed atop the box office for a third consecutive weekend. Avatar: Fire and Ash dropped 35% from last weekend, making $40 million in North America and bringing its totals to $306 million domestically and $1.08 billion globally. Even though the film clearly has an enormous audience worldwide, the speed of hitting $1 billion trails the first two films, and it’s not a certainty it will hit the $2 billion mark as they did.
Zootopia 2 took the second spot, making $19 million and barely dropping from last weekend. After six weekends of release, the sequel has grossed $363 million domestically and $1.588 billion globally.
The Housemaid took the third spot with a $15.2 million take, dipping only a single percent from last weekend, and bringing in $75.7 million in North America and $133 million worldwide. The film is already a success on a $35 million budget.
In fourth place was Marty Supreme, which made $12.5 million, dropping 30% from last weekend for a total of $56 million in North America. It’s now A24’s third highest grossing film behind Civil War and Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Rounding out the top five was Anaconda with a $10 million take, bringing in $45.8 million in North America and $88 million globally.
Most films from the weekend held strong, and analysts suspect 2026 will see more people in theaters than 2025.
