BTS isn’t just back together—they’re back and buffer than ever.
After completing their mandatory military service in South Korea, the seven-member K-pop phenomenon has stunned fans with their muscular physiques. From Jin’s first enlistment in December 2022 to Suga’s discharge in June 2025, the group’s time in uniform clearly doubled as an opportunity to bulk up—and fans are definitely noticing.
The road to their reunion was a long one. J-Hope joined the military soon after Jin, with the rest of the members enlisting by the end of 2023. One by one—and sometimes in pairs—the bandmates were discharged, building anticipation for the moment all seven could return to music. That moment finally came on July 1, 2025, when BTS announced during a Weverse livestream that their first post-military album would arrive in spring 2026.
But while fans wait for new music, another headline has emerged: BTS looks seriously ripped. And thanks to a behind-the-scenes vlog and expert insight, we know how they got there.
In September 2025, the group’s trainer Ma Sun Ho shared a YouTube vlog documenting their workouts in Los Angeles. The footage shows the BTS members powering through dumbbell hammer curls and machine work, all with serious focus—and a little playful competition.
Rather than focusing on a set number of reps, the members train to failure, a method that maximizes muscle growth. “What I think they’re doing a great job of is the movements they’re doing are slow and controlled,” celebrity trainer Kirk Myers, founder of Dogpound, told GQ. “That’s a very effective way to train—and super effective for gains.”
At one point, Ho instructs V to pause briefly at the top and bottom of each curl, eliminating momentum and making the move even harder.
Myers, who has trained stars from Tom Holland to Taylor Swift, praised the group for sticking together in the gym. “I also think it’s great that they’re working out as a group,” he said. “It just adds that accountability, and it also makes it fun. [Watching this video], it looks like they’re having a lot of fun.”
