With autumn less than two months away, it’s time to start sussing out your closet for all your go-to fall fashion staples as fashion influencers are revealing their predictions for fall fashion trends.
And according to TikTok, a lot of what is “in” this year is likely already in your closet.
Life & Style looked into what some of TikTok’s fashion influencers are predicting when it comes to fall trends. Here’s what we gathered.
It’s the return of the basic.
“The fashion world is officially hitting the great fashion factory reset,” TikToker Priya Mia said in a July TikTok about fall fashion trends, adding that she’s seeing “a huge return to basics. The way the fashion cycle has been recently, with it speeding up the way that it has, people have become exhausted.”
According to Data But Make It Fashion, “the white tank top is more popular than ever, growing 27% daily.” That’s “160% more popular than” in June 2024.
Skinny jeans are “having another moment.”
Some fashion influencers are saying skinny jeans are continuing its comeback. “My favorite, most controversial jeans are still trending this year. If you got yourself a pair of skinny jeans last year, or you already have them, it’s time to bring them back, because they’re having another moment,” TikToker Tina Somnia claimed.
While the idea of skinny jeans can cause flashbacks for some, Somnia says not to worry because skinny boot cut jeans are classic that “will never go out of style.”
It’s time to dress up your “jorts.”
Elevated jean shorts are quickly becoming staples in the closets of the most fashionable. “Specifically jorts in a very classy/dressed up style, [with] heels, or kitten heels. White on white with jorts is super chic,” Priya Mia predicts.
Outerwear, outerwear, outerwear.
It’s time to take a look at your coat closet because you’ll be using it a lot this year, according to TikTok’s fashion elite.
From cropped trench coats to cape jackets, it’s time to layer up.
Fashion major Mikayla says “cropped trench coats” are “going to be one of, if not the ‘it’ piece of outerwear for the season.” She also expects to see a lot of fringe. “I’m specifically seeing a lot of fringe on outerwear.”
Nostalgia will also be in the air with the return of the poncho.
In addition to the cropped coats and the fringe jackets, Sominia adds that the cape or scarf jacket that trended last year “will make a comeback.”
“I think utility and barn jackets are going to be very popular,” the owner of LAO Boutique noted, “like we saw a little bit of it last year. But this year, I think they’re finally gonna have their moment.”
In addition to the barn jacket, quilted jackets are also “going to be very popular,” she says.
Let your shoes make the fashion statement.
Our wardrobes may be going back to the basics, but our shoes are ready to shine, literally.
“Shoes are making a big splash this summer,” Priya Mia adds, noting silver metallic shoes have been all the rage. “I like that. Everybody’s saying, eyes down here, actually.”
Easy, breezy, Rugby shirts.
If your vibe is “easy cool girl,” then Kimber says it “is all about rugby T-shirts.”
With so many ways to style it, the Rugby shirt makes for an “easy, transitional” look as summer turns into fall, Kimber notes.
Quiet luxury is about to get quieter.
With everything that’s in, what’s out? According to Cat, the world will see less quiet luxury this year.
“Obviously quiet luxury isn’t something that’s ever going to be fully out. I think we are moving away from it,” Cat notes, adding that stilettos and platforms are also on their way out.
