Lilo & Stitch led the box office with $32.5 million this weekend, in its third weekend of release. This topped the take of Lionsgate’s From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which debuted with $25 million in second place. Lilo & Stitch have hauled in nearly $336 million domestically, which is pretty incredibly for a film that was initially not destined for theaters.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning dropped 45% to $15 million for the weekend, and has made a total of $149 million domestically. Karate Kid: Legends took fourth place with $8.7, suffering a steep 57% drop from opening weekend.
Final Destination: Bloodlines took fifth place with $6.5 million, for a total of $124 million over four weeks of release. Just behind it was Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, with a $6.2 million take from 1,672 theaters, an expansion from last weekend.
In limited release, The Life of Chuck made $216k in 16 theaters – not a terrible result, but not especially promising, either.
