First, THR is reporting that The Equalizer‘s timeslot change this season caused a drop in ratings. Last season, when it aired in an earlier hour on Sunday nights, it averaged 7.89 million viewers. This season, that number dropped to under 6 million.
Deadline shared that finances were part of the decision to renew or cancel, but producers on the show had allegedly agreed to take the budget down to help the show’s renewal odds. The site added that it did come down to the wire and ultimately, they decided to cancel.
