For those who don’t know the IOC (International Olympic Committee) decided to strip Jordan Chiles of her Bronze medal and it will now go to Romania’s Ana Barbosu.
Ana put out a statement regarding this: “Sabrina, Jordan, my thoughts are with you, I know what you are feeling, because I’ve been through the same. But I know you’ll come back stronger. I hope from deep [in] my heart that at the next Olympics, all three of us will share [the] same podium. This is my true dream!”
The decision had been decided by this ruling:
“The Saturday ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport vacated a last-minute inquiry made by Chiles’ coaches during Monday’s competition. The inquiry had boosted Chiles’ score by a tenth of a point, moving her from fifth to third place — but arbitrators said it had been filed too late. As a result, the International Gymnastics Federation revised the final results, and the International Olympic Committee said it would “reallocate” the bronze Ana Barbosu of Romania, who finished in fourth place.”
USA Gymnastics responded:

Today the USA responded that they have clear video evidence that Chiles’s coach Cecile Landi had submitted the inquiry within that minute as required by the official rules.
“The time-stamped, video evidence submitted by USA Gymnastics Sunday evening shows Landi first stated her request to file an inquiry at the inquiry table 47 seconds after the score is posted, followed by a second statement 55 seconds after the score was originally posted,” the statement read.
The articles it’s unclear on how quickly CAS will review and respond to this.
What a MESS!! The article also notes the Romanian officials never called for Jordan to be stripped of her medal. What they proposed to the arbitration court was to rescore Sabrina Maneca-Voinea’s routine and have all 3 girls share the 3rd place so each one could get receive a bronze medal but the court rejected both proposals >:||||
