April 1 – Vanderpump Villa series premiere (Hulu)
Vanderpump Villa follows the hand-picked crew of Lisa Vanderpump’s opulent French villa as they live and cooperate to satisfy each extravagant want of their affluent visitors.
April 3 – Loot season 2 premiere (Apple)
S2 beginss a year after Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) settles her very public divorce from tech billionaire John Novak (Adam Scott), and we find her thriving in her role as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation. Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men. Also starring Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches and Joel Kim Booster.
April 3 – Sight Unseen series premiere
Diagnosed with Leber’s Neuropathy, homicide detective Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis) quits the police force after nearly getting her partner, Jake Campbell (Daniel Gillies), killed. Unwilling to accept help, or even admit her new reality, Tess turns to an assistive app to help navigate the world around her while still “passing” as sighted. Through the EyesUP app, Tess finds an unorthodox partner in Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), an overly enthusiastic seeing eye guide working from her home in New York City who helps Tess investigate the brutal abduction of a young mother who may still be alive. But Sunny has a secret: she’s an agoraphobe who only leaves her apartment through the eyes of her clients, and is hiding a violent event in her own past. John Fawcett (Orphan Black) is the executive producer and director.
April 4 – Ripley series premiere (Netflix)
A grifter is drawn into a world of wealth and privilege after taking a unique job in Italy. But to seize the life he wants, he must build a web of lies.Starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning.
April 4 – Star Trek: Discovery season 5 premiere (Paramount)
The highly anticipated fifth and final season finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well… dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.
April 5 – Sugar series premiere (Apple)
Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried. Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, and James Cromwell also star.
April 5 – Mary and George series premiere (Starz)
Based on a scandalous true story, the seven-part limited series Mary & George is an audacious historical psychodrama starring Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice) and Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue), about a treacherous mother and son who schemed, seduced, and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of King James I.
April 11 – Fallout series premiere (Amazon)
Fallout is a post-apocalyptic series based on the immensely popular retro-futuristic video game franchise. Vault dweller Lucy (Ella Purnell) struggles to adapt to the twisted and dangerous world of the irradiated wasteland, and offers the first glimpse of Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) and Ma June (Dale Dickey). Also starring Walton Goggins and Michael Emerson.
April 11 – Lovers and Liars series premiere (CW)
In this spinoff of FBoy Island, three men on a tropical island are joined by 24 women for a chance to fall in love and win $100,000. Half of the women are looking for love, but the other half are just there to deceive the men and win the cold hard cash. Will the men be able to separate the lovers from the liars in order to win love AND money?
April 12 – Good Times series premiere (Netflix)
Norman Lear’s 70s classic Good Times will return as an animated series with the voices of JB Smoove, Jay Pharoah, Marsai Martin, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
April 14 – The Sympathizer series premiere (HBO)
Based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, THE SYMPATHIZER is an espionage thriller and cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his new life as a refugee in Los Angeles, where he learns that his spying days aren’t over. Also starring Robert Downey Jr.
April 17 – Under the Bridge series premiere (Hulu)
Based on the best-selling true-crime book “Under the Bridge” about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Starring Lily Gladstone, Archie Panjabi, and Riley Keough.
April 18 – Conan O’Brian Must Go series premiere (HBO)
Conan visits new friends he’s met through his podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan, making stops in Norway, Thailand, Argentina, and Ireland and takes in local culture, cuisine, and sights.
April 19 – Big Mood series premiere (Tubi)
If you’re in the UK or Australia, Big Mood has already aired last month. If you’re in the United States, the show will air on Tubi this month. With real depth and big laughs, BIG MOOD is a vibrant and rebellious portrayal of female friendship when tested by the complexities of a serious mental illness. The series will explore the messy pitfalls and idiosyncrasies of navigating adulthood through wicked humor, ridiculous anecdotes, and unsettling truths. Starring Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton,” “Derry Girls”) and Lydia West (“It’s A Sin,” “Inside Man”) and directed by Rebecca Asher (“Dead to Me,” Brooklyn 99″).
April 26 – We’re Here season 4 premiere (HBO)
Season 4 follows renowned drag queens Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Latrice Royale, as they continue the show’s mission of spreading love and connection through the art of drag across small-town America. This season, the queens work with participants in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as in surrounding towns, and take an in-depth, immersive look at recent anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, and the effect it has had on the community. HBO hasn’t released a trailer for S4 yet, but this video talks about the changes for this season.
