Tina Fey announced that she will return to play math teacher Ms. Norbury in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical ‘Mean Girls’, as well as costar Tim Meadows, reprising the role of Principal Duvall.
Already confirmed for the musical are Angourie Rice as Cady, Reneé Rapp as Regina, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis and Jaquel Spivey as Damian. Filming begins March 6.
Fey noted this difference between musical and film –
“The songs are sounding really more kinda pop. In Broadway everything has to play to the back of the house and in movies everything can come back in and things can play really intimately.”
No word yet on release, but assuming it’ll be next year, the 20th anniversary of the release of the original ‘Mean Girls’ movie.
