Michael Jackson’s production company is trying to stop his accusers’ Wade Robson and James Safechuck from gaining access to his police records. In court documents filed on Wednesday, MMJ productions is asking that Wade and James’ request to gain access to police records be thrown out.
They believe they are trying to obtain “photographs of Michael Jackson’s genitalia and naked body taken by police.” Attorneys for MMJ productions complain that “the photographs Plaintiffs seek were not taken willingly by Mr. Jackson”
Wade and James are suing the production company saying Michael’s staff is liable for allowing him to abuse them. In February, they won the right to combine their two lawsuits into one. The goal is to go to trial next year ahead of the release of the 2025 biopic on Michael Jackson.
“They want the Michael Jackson biopic to come out before the trial. That’s what I think. These corporations that facilitated the abuse in the first place, they’re rewriting the history.” their lawyer said.
The two sued MMJ Productions and MMJ Ventures in 2013 and 2014 but the cases were dismissed because the statute of limitations in California requires them to file suits before they turn 26. In 2021 Gavin Newsome signed a new law allowing child sex abuse survivors longer to file lawsuits.
