    ONTD Original: Musical Cruise Ships

A little-known feature of the cruise industry (specifically a few cruise lines, with a few special occasion exceptions) is musical cruise ship horns. Cruise ships in particular use their horns to do more than honk at other ships to get out of the way – horns are for saying hello, goodbye, and in particular, to engage in a tradition of the cruise ship horn battle (mostly to amuse passengers and the crew). Yes, the cruise industry is weird and wacky, but here are some examples of when cruise ships have horns that play actual music.

The Disney Wish playing some of it’s rumored 18 musical horns – all Disney-themed, of course.

A horn battle between two older Disney ships, of which one only has one musical horn and therefore loses.

The Regal Princess playing the Love Boat theme (which most if not all Princess ships use – they also have every episode of The Love Boat on demand in passenger cabins).

The ships of Cunard play Happy Birthday for the Queen Mary on her 10th birthday (all ships are female).

The MSC Splendida plays We Will Rock You and Seven Nation Army for some special event in Germany.

Special Extra: When cruise ships take part in synchronized swimming. There is a better clip of this but I can’t find it, so enjoy Captain Kate talking about it.

NVM I found it LOL. This was from when all the cruise ships were just parked at sea during COVID and all the crews were isolated for months upon months on end unable to go anywhere (and turning off and parking a cruise ship costs more than just keeping it turned on anchored at sea).
