Ricky Gervais has sent love to his The Office co-star Lucy Davis after her revelation that she has “incurable” breast cancer.

The 53-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the original UK version of The Office – told fans in a post on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which has metastasised into her bones, around 18 months ago and she is determined to “live out whatever might be left” of her life in the most “fun” way she possibly can after being told it was “too late” to be treated with chemotherapy.
She added in her social media post: “The initial lump that I felt, wasn’t a ‘lump’ as such; rather a kind of hard spot. Really tiny. I almost didn’t bother getting it checked. So I guess I’m saying don’t ignore anything – get everything checked out.)
“As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there’s a lot I have learned from it, and I’m grateful for that.”
Following her post, Lucy was flooded with messages of support from her famous friends, including comedian and actor Ricky.
He kept things simple as he responded to Lucy’s post by putting a singular red heart emoji underneath.
Lucy then responded by writing “xxxx”.
Jenna Fischer, who starred in the U.S. spinoff of The Office, added: “Beautiful post. Love you lots. And yes to working with cancer! Let’s spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort!”
Actress Sarah Paulson wrote: “Sending you love love love. You are and always have been full of magic.”
While Lucy’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina co-star Kiernan Shipka commented: “I love you so much Lucy.”
And the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart wrote: “Your outlook is inspiring and I’m sending you love, prayers and big hugs! And a little magic for a miracle!”
Sherlock star Amanda Abbington commented: “Sending you the biggest cuddle and all my love, love, love, love, love. You are and have always been an incredible f****** woman. I adore you.
