Why Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Are Reportedly Changing Their Wedding Anniversary

The family feud in the Beckham household shows no signs of abating. So much so that Victoria and David Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn, has made an important decision in agreement with his wife, Nicola Peltz. According to sources who spoke to The Sun, the couple has decided to no longer publicly celebrate the anniversary of their first wedding—yes, the one with 500 guests in Palm Beach at her parents’ ultra-luxurious estate. It was April 2022, and apparently even the thought of it makes the couple uncomfortable. That’s why, according to sources at The Sun, Brooklyn and Peltz will henceforth publicly celebrate the date of their vow renewal—which took place in August 2025, without his family present—as their wedding anniversary. The two exchanged anniversary wishes on August 5. (Vanity Fair has reached out to Brooklyn and Peltz, as well as Victoria and David, for comment.)

The Beckham scion, Brooklyn, wrote, in an Instagram post showing he and Peltz embracing with wine glasses in hand while dressed casually: “Happy anniversary Nicola. I can’t tell you how much I love you. You are my best friend and I love you more than life itself. I am so lucky to be able to call you my wife. You are my absolute princess and I promise to always protect you.”

In Peltz’s post, she wrote, “Happy anniversary, my love. You make my life so beautiful. Thank you for being the most amazing husband I could ever dream of.”

Incidentally, neither of them exchanged any anniversary wishes last April, supporting the idea that that day in 2022 isn’t a moment they want to remember. (Reportedly, the bride even ended up in tears.) In January, in an official statement, Brooklyn said he felt anxious and embarrassed when his mother, Victoria, allegedly sabotaged the newlyweds’ first dance. The situation grew tense when the former Spice Girl allegedly called her son “evil” after she disapproved of the seating arrangement. Two of the grandmothers were seated with the couple, while the parents were at the table adjacent to them—equidistant to avoid jealousy and hard feelings. (Vanity Fair has reached out to Victoria for comment. She told The Wall Street Journal about Brooklyn, “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”)

Brooklyn himself explained his reasoning: “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness.”

Geographically, however, David and Victoria hadn’t been this close to their eldest son in quite some time: They were on their yacht in Saint-Tropez in early August, while Brooklyn and Peltz were guests of Elton John on his boat near Nice. Yet there was no meeting, no attempt at reconciliation—just snide remarks on social media that are driving the 27-year-old further and further away from his family.
