Linda Blair‘s property was the subject of an active investigation into a reported kennel operation.

The 67-year-old actress best known for The Exorcist had her Southern California property searched on Friday (July 31) under an inspection warrant filed as part of a joint operation between the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and the Los Angeles Department of Regional Planning, per People.

    TMZ first reported the news.

What we know about the investigation

“The goal is to inspect this property for buildings and structures associated with a kennel operation reported to have more than 100 dogs,” the department said in the statement.

According to the DACC, the kennel facility’s permits expired in 2023. The county agencies allegedly tried to get in contact with the owner, who never responded.

The department’s role in the investigation is to evaluate the welfare of the dogs on the property, including assessing their overall care and the safety conditions.

“The warrant allows us to lawfully access the property and verify compliance with County codes,” the DACC said.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of both the animals on the property and the people who may be working or residing here,” the department said. “This inspection will help us determine whether conditions meet required standards.”

When TMZ initially reported the news, they said Linda was there during the inspection and remained “extremely cooperative.” They also said no dogs were actually taken from the property.

Because the investigation is still active and ongoing, the department was unable to provide additional details.

Linda Blair provides an update amid the ongoing investigation

Linda provided an update on Friday on her Instagram, saying the animals were okay “in lieu of our surprise visit in 105° heat.”

“Turns out we just have some paperwork to do and some diagrams but as everybody knows, I’m looking to move so I can be more educational and help more animals,” the actress wrote. “I’d rather move forward. And I always say you know a good old-fashioned letter of contact always works. Be safe safe lives support animal rescue cause we’re all fighting to save lives.”

She shared the video on her personal Instagram and on the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation page, which is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing animals.
