Back in January, Ashley Tisdale published an open-ed to The Cut exposing her famous mommy friend group as “mean” and “toxic.” Titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” the piece went viral in part due to the clique’s famous cast of characters, including Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor and Hilary Duff, and the rumors that Ashley might’ve actually been kicked out for being too conservative.
Ashley wrote about how she confronted the clique after being repeatedly left out of group hangs, and it didn’t end well. Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Korma openly mocked her essay on social media, while Hilary’s estranged sister, Haylie Duff, liked a post about Ashley’s piece on Instagram.
If you are a fan of white-on-white true crime, good news! This wild story is being adapted into a dark comedy series called Toxic Moms based on the original viral essay, with Ashley in a starring role, Sabrina Jalees attached as writer and Ali Wong serving as executive producer.
