Good Morning, ONTD. Today we are going to time travel backwards to the year 1984, when the British Music invasion reached American shores, and everyone collectively lost their minds. Pioneering electronica groups like Kraftwerk and Yellow Magic Orchestra paved the way for more experimental groups out of Europe, and the Art of Noise was one of them. The Tube was a UK music television programme that was a showcase for many emerging 1980s bands, and one cold night in 1984 Art of Noise performed “Beat Box” for the first time live and inspired a whole generation of Hip-Hop kids; it was THE TUNE to to pop/breakdance to back then. The New Wavers and New Romantics dancing in the crowd at The Tube had no idea history was being made that night of what would eventually become a timeless classic taking place right in front of them. 40 years later, this song still hits hard, so let us dance around the room to this blast from the past.
