Rumer Willis brings allegations against ex Derek Richard Thomas in new court documents.
The 37-year-old entertainer and her singer have been in a custody battle for nearly a year over their three-year-old daughter Louetta.
In her new documents, Rumer claims Derek exhibited a “persistent pattern” of “insane emotional abuse” that has been going on since before their split in 2024, according to People.
This comes as she continues to fight for custody after he filed an order for child custody and visitation last July.
Rumer says he alleged abuse also happened “often in front of the minor child or while they were trapped in the car with him.”

The actress and singer filed for primary physical custody and alleges that her ex engaged in “ongoing coercive control through prolonged circular verbal attacks that he is unable or unwilling to stop.”
She also says he engaged in this for “over six hours at a time on what became a daily basis,” alleging his “erratic and bizarre” behavior “escalated” after their daughter was born three years ago.
“I was constantly trying to keep the peace and walk on eggshells,” Rumer said in the filing. “He wanted to isolate me from my friends and family. He constantly called me a liar with no reason behind it. He told me I was a bad girlfriend all the time.”
In the docs, Rumer says Derek displayed “paranoid behavoir” and he claimed she and her mom Demi Moore were “plotting” to take their daughter away from him.
“For a long time, it was difficult for me to stand up to [Thomas] as I tried to avoid his emotional tirades and abuse even for a long time after he moved out,” Rumer says in the paperwork.
She claims his behavior has left Louetta “traumatized” and “crying a lot,” which has become reason for her not wanting the toddler to have “overnights or time with Louetta” without an evaluation.
Derek is denying these claims, saying Rumer only made the custody request because she is “enraged” by their daughter’s “clear affection” for his new fiancée Lizzie Loch, who the actress is concerned being present during his time with their child due to his alleged “history of fighting in relationships, and in front of the child.”
He denies the abuse claims, but notes that their relationship was “unhealthy.”
“I have committed no acts of domestic violence in any form, including any active coercive control. [Our] relationship was unhealthy and appropriately came to an end, but it was not all characterized by any violence, physical or emotional attacks or intimidation on my part,” Derek claims.
“The decision to end the relationship between myself and [Rumer] was a mutual decision made in our mutual best interests,” he added.
Rumer first confirmed she and Derek split back in August 2024, and just last week, explained why she ended their relationship.
