Edward James Olmos and Jennifer Lopez reunited at the premiere of Office Romance on Tuesday (May 26) in Los Angeles.
The two are once again playing father and daughter in the upcoming Netflix movie, almost 30 years since the last time they did in 1997’s Selena: The Movie.
At the premiere, Edward opened up about reuniting with JLo so many years later.
“For me, it was very emotional,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “And still is, you know. [It’s a] strong understanding of decades, watching our own growth and watching each other’s growth.” ”
“It’s been beautiful,” Edward continued. “We’re lucky we got to do work that was profoundly a cultural, heartfelt. And when we did Selena, it was just beautiful. It was something that I wish people had realized what a performance she gave. It was unbelievably prolific, that performance.”
In Selena: The Movie, Edward played Abraham Quantanilla, the father of JLo‘s Selena Quintanilla.
For Office Romance, he plays her father Captain Jack Cruz. Edward‘s casting in the upcoming movie was first announced over a year ago!
