The next film from Oscar winner Ang Lee has entered production. Set during the American gold rush, Gold Mountain is based on the novel How Much of These Hills Is Gold by C Pam Zhang. It centers on two orphaned Chinese immigrant children (played by Chedi Chang and Sophia Xu) “as they traverse a hostile California frontier to bury their father and free themselves from their past.” Yao (Sinners), Zine Tseng (Young Sherlock), and Owen Teague (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) round out the main cast.
