A South Carolina mom disappeared after traveling to Georgia to attend a church conference, and she reappeared days later in an Atlanta hospital.
Leigh McAlister — a 37-year-old mom and resident of Lexington, S.C. — traveled roughly 200 miles to attend the conference on Friday (February 13), according to a missing persons report loved ones shared on Facebook.
She originally planned to return the following day, but reportedly mentioned that she might remain in Atlanta through Sunday. The missing person report stated that she hadn’t been in touch with family since Friday evening.

In updates shared on the post, it was revealed that McAlister‘s car had been found with her phone and wallet inside. The update was shared around 3 p.m. Monday (February 16).
The following day, the post was updated to revealed that the missing woman had been found “alive in Atlanta overnight.” Citing her husband, 11Alive stated that she was located in an Atlanta hospital.
On Thursday (February 19), the post was updated again to reveal that McAlsiter was still hospitalized but was “found and safe.”
“At this time, she remains hospitalized and we are still working to understand the circumstances leading to this event. If you have any information on her whereabouts in the Atlanta area from Friday night through the weekend, please share with APD or Cobb County authorities, me personally, or the contact points on the flyer,” the update read.
The Cobb County Police Department also issued a missing person report on Facebook, which was updated late in the evening Monday to reveal that McAlister had been found.
Authorities didn’t share additional details about the development or her condition. It is currently unknown what led to her hospitalization and what happened in the time she was missing.
According to reporting by 11Alive, McAlister was caught on surveillance camera at a Publix on February 14. It appears to be the last time that she was seen. The Independent reported that her car was roughly 10 miles from the grocery store.
