When the third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty concluded on September 17, 2025, fans learned that the story would not end there.

Amazon/Prime Video officially revealed that the saga will come to its full close in the form of a feature film.
Jenny Han – who created the original novels and co-showruns the series – will write and direct the movie, meaning the final chapter remains in her hands.
What the story could cover
The press release and early interviews give few concrete details about the plot, but Han has teased that there is “another big milestone” left in Belly’s life that only a movie can handle properly.
Many observers are speculating that this could involve a wedding – in the books, Belly eventually marries Conrad – though no confirmation has been made.
Because the series ends at the moment of Belly and Conrad’s reunion, the film offers space to show “what happens next,” not just in their romantic arc but in the lives of other characters too.
Season 3 left threads around Steven and Taylor planning a future together, and Jeremiah beginning a new connection with Denise – those paths may be further explored in the film.

Who is confirmed to return
Two of the leads are already confirmed: Lola Tung will reprise her role as Belly, and Christopher Briney will return as Conrad.
The status of other main cast members – such as Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, and Rain Spencer – has not yet been officially confirmed, but many expect them to return to finish the story alongside the main duo.
Production timeline and release
On the production side, the film is still in early stages.
Han has said she and co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka have a completed draft of the script. But as of now, no filming has been reported, and no release date has been set.
Han has also signalled that the movie will not arrive in 2026, explaining she wants extra time to allow the cast to age into their characters appropriately.
