If you did not see the news, the 31-year-old Trump ally and conservative commentator passed away on Wednesday (September 10) after he was shot in the neck while on his The American Comeback Tour rally event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He died from his injuries, but the shooter has not been apprehended.

Now, the FBI has revealed they have recovered the weapon and some evidence. FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls and DPS Commissioner Beau Mason gave the joint press conference.

“Historically, on 9/11, law enforcement has come together as a group to recognize and honor those that sacrificed to preserve the ideals of this country, the freedoms of this country. Instead, we find ourselves today hunting a murderer who chose to violate our rights, the rights of an individual within this country,” Mason shared. “Through all that work last night, we were able to make a few few breakthroughs. We were able to track the movements of the shooter, starting at 11:52 a.m. the subject arrived on campus, shortly away from campus. We had tracked his movements onto the campus, through the stairwells, up to the roof, across the roof to a shooting location. After the shooting, we were able to track his movements as he moved to the other side of the building, jumped off of the building and fled off of the campus and into a neighborhood. Our investigators have worked through those neighborhoods, contacting anybody they can, with doorbell cameras, witnesses, and thoroughly work through those communities trying to identify any leads.”

They further added, “We have recovered the weapon. It was a high powered assault action rifle.”

They then shared that the rifle was recovered in a wooded area. They secured the wooded area and do not believe the suspect is in hiding in the woods.

They have recovered a footwear impression, forearm impression and palm print impression of the alleged shooter and also confirmed they have “images” of the suspect. They added that they believe the alleged suspect fit in well with the crowd at a university.

Our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk‘s loved ones at this difficult time. He is survived by his wife and kids.
