Francis Ford Coppola is speaking out about his hospitalization in Italy.
The 86-year-old director was reported to be resting in the hospital after undergoing a medical procedure for his heart.
After reports surfaced, Francis shared an update and confirmed what he had done.

“Da Dada (what my kids call me) is fine, taking an opportunity while in Rome to do the update of my 30 year old afib procedure with its inventor, a great Italian doctor – Dr. Andrea Natale! I am well!” the filmmaker shared on Instagram.
There were reports that the procedure was heart surgery and that he was experiencing a “mild cardiac arrhythmia” prior to the procedure, and his AFib procedure update would align with this. AFib, which is a “chaotic heart signaling causes a rapid, uncoordinated heartbeat,” is a type of tachychardia that falls under a cardiac arrhythmia, per Mayo Clinic.
Earlier this year, Francis was honored with the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in Los Angeles.
