The Last of Us season two has just come to an end.

The HBO television series adaptation of the popular video game returned for a second season just last month, in April 2025, and it has already concluded after seven episodes.

While speaking with Deadline, co-showrunner Craig Mazin teased, “We haven’t seen the last of Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), and we haven’t seen the last of Bella Ramsey (Ellie), and we haven’t seen the last of Isabela Merced (Dina), and we haven’t seen the last of a lot of people who are currently dead in the story.”

Co-creator Neil Druckmann added, “You know, there’s a certain crane that you’re seeing in Episode 7 that is very telling.”

“Their certainty is beginning to fail them, and we can see it here with Ellie for sure, because faced with the consequences of the things she’s done and people that didn’t deserve to die, she’s starting to feel maybe a swing of the pendulum, and we don’t know where these two are going to end,” Craig Mazin shared with The Wrap about Ellie and Abby. “What I would hope the audience feels is that they are not done. They’re not done growing, or they are not done falling. We’ll have to wait and see which it is.”
