Joe Alwyn looked dapper as he arrived at the 2025 Oscars before taking the stage to present, wearing a suit that appeared to be tailored to perfection on the red carpet.

The Brutalist star, 34, appeared to be in great spirits as he stepped onto the scene for the 97th Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2.

For the awards ceremony, Joe opted to go for a classic look in a black tuxedo, white dress shirt and black bow tie. However, he added a pop of color to the ensemble with a purple and yellow jewel brooch.

Joe, also known for being the ex of pop star Taylor Swift, is one of many celebrities who will be presenting including Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Sterling K. Brown, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Stiller, Gal Gadot, Selena Gomez and Lily-Rose Depp.

The Brutalist premiered in theaters in December 2024, and became a smash hit, grossing more $35 million globally, according to reports.

The film, in which Joe portrayed Harry Lee Van Buren, joins Wicked for the second-highest number of Oscar nominations this weekend, 10, behind musical drama Emilia Pérez.

Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography are just a few of the categories in which the film is competing.

Joe previously revealed his excitement over the film, admitting that he read the script for Brady Corbet‘s 3.5-hour movie five years ago and the duo later met for coffee in New York to discuss him potentially joining the cast.

“I was such a fan of Brady and such a fan of the script,” the British heartthrob told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was this big, rigorous, detailed, old-fashioned epic.”

“Firstly, this is pre-COVID, which is another world away. And we chatted for ages and got on. But it wasn’t all set up at that point,” Joe added. “So it was this moving thing. And then I think it came together and fell apart in various shapes over the next few years. I think all of us at some point weren’t in it. My part was going to be a little older, and then eventually, by the time it changed shape again post-COVID, I was very happy to get the call up.”

“You never know how anything’s gonna turn out, but I think he did such a fantastic job. I’m so happy to be a part of it,” Joe proudly shared in hindsight. “It’s so huge in its scope and also so personal and intimate in its storytelling. But as you say, the ideas of being an immigrant coming to America, the American dream, art versus commerce.”

In addition to The Brutalist, Joe was also recently featured in the 2024 film Kinds of Kindness. He has continued to hone his craft after he and Taylor, 35, broke up in April 2023 after dating for six years.

During an interview with The Guardian, Joe said he didn’t let himself get too worried over whether his fizzled romance with the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer overshadowed his career at times.

“I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control,” he said in January. “And, right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaning for me: friends, family, work, of course.”
