Grant Ellis Is a Former Collegiate and Professional Basketball Player
Before finding his passion in finance, Grant put his 6-foot-5 frame to good use in collegiate and professional basketball.
The ABC star played hoops for New York’s Iona University before transferring to Connecticut’s Albertus Magnus College, where he was a star guard.
The school’s longtime coach, Mitch Oliver, recalled Grant’s time playing for him in the 2016-2017 season.
“He was a great player, probably the best shooter I’ve ever had or seen,” Mitch told the Connecticut Observer on January 10, 2025. “His biggest asset was probably what he’s showing now to everyone, his calm, cool, collected demeanor. He couldn’t be rattled.”
Mitch said Grant was “a class act on and off the court,” adding about the former athlete landing the role of The Bachelor, “I’m very happy for him. Obviously, he’s getting a ton of exposure, and it’s a great thing. I think he’s a great representation of the college.”
Grant went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. The following year, he played for the Indios de San Francisco professional basketball team in Dominican Republic, according to his Proballers.com profile. In 2021, Grant played for another team in the Caribbean island nation, Club Huellas del Siglo.
