Rolling Stone declares the current pop music scene as “the Hannah Montana Generation of Pop Music,” and even claims that pop music hasn’t been this fun in years.

They cite Sabrina Carpenter, who competed in the MileyWorld Superstar Contest to try and win a record deal. “I remember…watching the pilot and being like ‘I want to do that. I want to sing, and I want to act, and I want to dance. I want to do all those things,’’ Carpenter said of Hannah Montana in a 2020 interview. She ultimately lost and came in at third place, but would eventually be cast in Girl Meets World and sign a record deal with Disney’s Hollywood Records. She would go on to release 4 studio albums under Disney before departing the label for Island Records.

The article also mentions Chappell Roan, who has performed in Hannah Montana drag and has cited Montana as an influence. They also cite JoJo Siwa and Olivia Rodrigo as Gen Z pop girlies who were influenced by Hannah Montana.
