Madonna<\/a> asking for riding lessons and he recalled to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: \u201cShe Googled me and said she wanted some lessons, but didn\u2019t have a horse.<\/p>\n\u201cI asked her where she lived and she said she didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told her I\u2019d never heard of anyone not knowing where they lived but she said she had only been driven there and we established it might be somewhere near Salisbury. But she ended up coming to Hinton St Mary for lessons.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Olympic veteran had a “good relationship” with the ‘Vogue’ singer but she didn’t always listen to instruction and he was left terrified one day when she fell off her horse and he was convinced she was “dead”.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I regularly had to pinch myself. We had a good relationship, she was a good learner but she didn\u2019t always want to learn. There were days when she just wanted to go for a ride. But it was a big risk [because of who she was] not to fall off.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAfter she\u2019d built an indoor school at Ashcombe, she got me over to see her new horse.<\/p>\n
\n“She was brave but not really a jump rider and she fell off. I didn\u2019t know where to look. She was lying on the floor, didn\u2019t move and I was thinking, \u2018oh my god, she\u2019s dead\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n“Then she proceeded to come alive very quickly. And vocally.”<\/p>\n
\nMadonna was furious that William’s priority was to look after the horse, not to clean her off so she could hide the fact she’d fallen.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cShe then stormed over to me. She was covered in the arena surface. She didn\u2019t want anyone to know she\u2019d fallen off and I said it was a sure giveaway if she was covered head-to-toe.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAs you do in those situations, if someone isn\u2019t dead, your first instinct is to catch the horse. \u2018Don\u2019t be getting the horse!\u2019, she bellowed. \u2018Deal with me. Get this s*** off of me\u2019. I said, \u2018I can\u2019t do that\u2019, but she said, \u2018You get it off of me \u2013 you got it on me, you get it off of me. Don\u2019t tell a soul!\u2019 I said, \u2018I\u2019m just glad you\u2019re alive\u2019.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was gently dusting her down, trying to do it almost without touching her. ‘You\u2019re not doing it properly\u2019, she said. \u2018Do it properly\u2019. So I ended up having to brush it off her breasts and thighs hoping no one was looking, and thinking, \u2018what in god\u2019s name am I doing?\u2019 It was a moment. That was the last lesson I ever gave her.”<\/p>\n
\nWilliam thinks the 65-year-old star has given up her horse hobby for good now.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “I think when she divorced Guy and went back to America she gave up riding.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
