\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The creator and showrunner of The Boys<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is providing an update on the spinoff The Boys: Mexico<\/strong><\/em>!<\/p>\n If you missed it, it was revealed in November <\/a>that a second spinoff, set in Mexico, was in the works, with actors Diego Luna<\/strong><\/a> and Gael Garcia Bernal<\/strong><\/a> signing on as executive producers, and possibly taking on acting roles.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very excited about what we can do, because we can do something very interesting in Latin America,\u201d Gael<\/strong> told Variety<\/a> <\/em>in December.<\/p>\n While promoting the upcoming The Boys<\/em> season four<\/a>, creator Eric Kripke<\/strong><\/a> shared an update on the status of the spinoff.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey are still making the deal with the writer for the pilot,\u201d Eric<\/strong> told EW<\/a><\/em>. \u201cHe has an amazing pitch, and we all giggle and think about how fun it would be. But there are a lot of hurdles for that show before it\u2019s a real show. He\u2019s got to write an amazing pilot, he\u2019s probably got to write an amazing episode 2. I think he can and he will, but we\u2019re a while away from truly starting to drop in the Easter eggs and the setups and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Eric <\/strong>notes that in order for a The Boys<\/em> spinoff to work, it has to be able to stand alone on it\u2019s own, separate from the original series.<\/p>\n \u201cI really don\u2019t want people to feel they have to watch one [show] to understand the other,\u201d he shared. \u201cI never want it to feel like homework or mandatory viewing. I think that\u2019s hurt Marvel in a certain amount of ways, and I don\u2019t want to do that. I want you to watch both shows. It certainly expands your enjoyment and experience of both shows because you understand some of the backstory of where things came from, but by no means do you have to.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to The Boys<\/em>, there\u2019s also Gen V<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, which is set in college, and is returning for a second season.<\/p>\n If you missed it, The Boys<\/em> was recently renewed<\/a> for a fifth season, weeks before season four premieres<\/a>!<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
