\n The Racecourse.<\/span> FX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cThe Kop was the iconic stand at one end of the stadium, and it has sadly sat a kind of derelict mass of rusting metal for the last few years,\u201d he explained. \u201cSo, we applied to the U.K. government for some money to build a fancy new stand there and got denied.<\/a> But we decided to demolish the stand anyway and then we applied for more money, got that approved and then ran into any number of exciting regulatory issues that we had to iron out before we built the damn thing.\u201d<\/p>\nThursday\u2019s episode revealed that McElhenney proposed a temporary Kop comprised of thousands of seats. They were told that it makes \u201czero sense financially\u201d and Ker\u2019s concern was that \u201cif the stand collapses and kills a bunch of people, I go to jail.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reynolds and McElhenney addressed the \u201csafety issue\u201d to do everything \u201cabove board\u201d so there were no concerns of jail.<\/p>\n
