It\u2019s over. Reese Witherspoon<\/strong><\/a> and husband Jim Toth<\/strong> announced they have split and are getting divorced<\/a> after more than a decade of marriage.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have some personal news to share \u2026 It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,\u201d Reese, 47, shared via Instagram<\/a> on Friday, March 24. \u201cWe have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0Sweet Home Alabama<\/em> star went on to say that their \u201cbiggest priority\u201d is their son, Tennessee<\/a> \u2013 whom they welcomed in September 2012 \u2013 and their extended family.<\/p>\n \u201cThese matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone\u2019s respect for our family\u2019s privacy at this time,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The New Orleans native was first linked to the Hollywood talent agent, 52, in February 2010 following her split from Jake Gyllenhaal<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt happened out of the blue,\u201d she recalled during an interview with <\/span>Elle <\/span><\/i>in February 2012 of the night she met Jim. \u201cThis really drunk guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me. \u2026 Jim came over and said, \u2018Please excuse my friend. He\u2019s just broken up with someone.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The Draper James founder gushed about her beau, calling him a \u201creally good friend\u201d for \u201cpulling [the drunk man] out of that situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s just kind of who he is, a really good person,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After a whirlwind romance, they announced their engagement that December before tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at her former ranch in Ojai, California, on March 26, 2011. The newlyweds revealed they were expecting their first child together just one year later, with a source telling <\/span>Us Weekly<\/span><\/i><\/a>,<\/span> \u201cReese and Jim have been trying to get pregnant.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Shortly after welcoming son Tennessee, Reese and Jim found themselves in legal trouble when the <\/span>Legally Blonde <\/span><\/i><\/a>actress<\/a> was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after her husband was stopped for a suspected DUI in April 2013.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While Reese later called the ordeal \u201cembarrassing and dumb<\/a>,\u201d she pleaded no-contest and was ordered to pay a fine. Jim pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was sentenced to 40 hours of community service, ordered to attend an alcohol education program and pay a fine.<\/span><\/p>\n Reese \u2013 who also shares daughter Ava<\/a> and son Deacon<\/a> with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 shared a sweet tribute to the former Quibi exec as they celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary in March 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cCelebrating 10 years of marriage to my sweet hubby,\u201d she wrote via Instagram<\/a> at the time. \u201cWhat a special day with all of our dear friends.
