Marco Rubio<\/strong><\/a> declared Sunday that he might not accept<\/a> the results of the 2024 election, a previously unthinkable statement for an elected official to make that is now basically a prerequisite for anyone hoping to be Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2019s vice president.<\/p>\n Appearing on Meet the Press,<\/em> the senator from Florida was asked by host Kristen Welker<\/strong> if he would \u201caccept the election results of 2024, no matter what happens,\u201d to which he responded<\/a>, \u201cNo matter what happens? No. If it\u2019s an unfair election, I think it\u2019s gonna be contested by each side.\u201d Then he claimed that \u201cDemocrats are the ones that have opposed every Republican victory since 2000, every single one.\u201d Reminded that Democrats who\u2019ve taken issue with election results have ultimately conceded, Rubio asked Welker if she had asked Democrats if they\u2019d accept the election results. Vance<\/strong> and Tim Scott,<\/strong> North Dakota governor Doug Burgum,<\/strong> and representatives Elise Stefanik<\/strong> and Byron Donalds.<\/strong> Stefanik has also said that had she been vice president on January 6, 2021, she \u201cwould not have done what Mike Pence<\/strong> did,\u201d i.e., follow the law.
