Then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/05\/jesse-duggar-my-mom-is-awesome-shes-godly-af\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jessa heaped undeserved praise<\/a> on Michelle Duggar, of all people.<\/p>\n<p>To some longtime Duggar-watchers, this could just be normal social media comebacks. Why? To wish a Happy Mother\u2019s Day to Michelle Duggar.<\/p>\n<p>That seems like appropriate timing. It\u2019s hard to think of someone who is more wholly deserving yet undeserving of Mother\u2019s Day honors. By quantity? She\u2019s such a mother. By quality? That\u2019s another story.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s more than Mother\u2019s day. The network canceled <em>19 Kids &amp; Counting<\/em> and replaced it with <em>Counting On<\/em> \u2026 bringing back almost the entire Duggar family and continuing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2023\/10\/jill-duggar-jim-bob-used-tlc-earnings-to-control-his-kids-gain-power-over-his-neighbors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to enrich Jim Bob<\/a>, but without Josh or his parents appearing on screen.<\/p>\n<p>It soon became apparent that TLC was boiling the frog with viewers. Little by little, Jill &amp; Jessa\u2019s disgraceful parents began inching their way back onto the show. Fans feared that i was only a matter of time before Josh reappeared.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, that did not materialize. In 2021, Homeland Security officials arrested Josh Duggar for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Later that year, he received his conviction. He is currently behind bars, where he belongs. These are business decisions. If people shrug off wrongdoings, they\u2019ll watch the Duggar cult on TV again and brush off moral outrage over it. His parents did. <\/p>\n<p>And the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2023\/12\/jinger-duggar-praises-documentary-for-exposing-bill-gothard-iblp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abusive ideology of IBLP<\/a> and the Duggar family made a perfect hunting ground for predators like Josh. He benefited from that, but it didn\u2019t start with him. It\u2019s not like they had their own shows, and producers clearly felt that including toxic scumbags would do more good than harm to ratings.<\/p>\n<p>But one reality TV figure seems especially relevant. Her family had their own show on TLC. It\u2019s not on TLC \u2014 it airs on WEtv, where apparently cuddling in bed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2014\/10\/23\/mama-june-boyfriend-dating-mark-mcdaniel-molested-child\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with the man who abused your daughter<\/a> is water under the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>As we noted, executives only rarely make moral, ideological decisions on purpose. Pressure from viewers, especially on advertisers, is what tips the scales more times than not.<\/p>\n<p>Could the Duggars stage a return, on some fringe streaming network or on WEtv or something like that? Absolutely.
