{"id":98462,"date":"2024-05-19T08:03:02","date_gmt":"2024-05-19T08:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/19\/prince-edward-queen-elizabeths-passing-was-far-more-emotional-after-prince-philips-death\/"},"modified":"2024-05-19T08:03:02","modified_gmt":"2024-05-19T08:03:02","slug":"prince-edward-queen-elizabeths-passing-was-far-more-emotional-after-prince-philips-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/19\/prince-edward-queen-elizabeths-passing-was-far-more-emotional-after-prince-philips-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Edward: Queen Elizabeth&#8217;s passing was &#8216;far more emotional&#8217; after Prince Philip&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"byline\">\n<time itemprop=\"datePublished\" content=\"2024-05-19\" datetime=\"1716105782\" pubdate=\"\">19 May 2024<\/time>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/prince-edward\/\" class=\"exposure-link \" data-linktrack=\"LinkTracker,articleExposure,prince-edward\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Edward<\/a> has admitted Queen Elizabeth&#8217;s death was &#8220;far more emotional&#8221; because it came so soon after Prince Philip&#8217;s passing.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"image-caption landscape\">Prince Edward&#8217;s parents died within 17 months of one another<\/p>\n<p>The Duke of Edinburgh lost his mother in September 2022, just 17 months after his father had passed away and he admitted going through the monarch&#8217;s passing was made more difficult because he and his family were still grieving for her husband.<\/p>\n<p>Edward made his remarks as he deputised for his brother, King Charles, as Lord High Commissioner at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh on Saturday (18.05.24), where he welcomed Reverend Dr. Shaw James Paterson as the newly-elected moderator.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the group, Edward paid a &#8220;personal tribute&#8221; to the faith leaders for the support they offered to the royal family following the death of the queen.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cFor my own part, I just want to pay personal tribute to the chaplains of the Chapels Royal and especially those here in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cThere have been moments recently where I have been lucky to have sensed God\u2019s care and love.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cAnd who could forget the scenes that followed the passing of my mother?<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cThe outpouring of emotions, the demonstration of respect, love and grief was overwhelming and a privilege to experience and behold.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cI think I can speak for my whole family when I say we will remain forever grateful for that support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nEdward, 60, said he was \u201creally touched and comforted\u201d by how the chaplains had helped his family \u201cbehind closed doors and away from the public gaze and the scrutiny\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe added: \u201cI know it\u2019s part of the job description, so perhaps I shouldn\u2019t have been surprised, yet it is not necessarily what they did, it\u2019s how they did it.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cHere were centuries of tradition, of rituals long practised, of prayer, of care and of comfort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nCongratulating the new moderator, Edward drew similarities between the life of a minister&#8217;s child and of growing up in the royal family.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe said: &#8220;Growing up in the family of a minister is never easy; having to come to terms with sharing one or both of your parents with the wider parish family.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cAnd believe me, I can empathise.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/celebrity\/prince-edward-queen-elizabeths-passing-far-emotional-after-prince-philips-death-1399839.html?f=rss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>19 May 2024 Prince Edward has admitted Queen Elizabeth&#8217;s death was &#8220;far more emotional&#8221; because it came so soon after Prince Philip&#8217;s passing.
