Judi Dench has declared her partner of 14 years will never propose<\/p>\n
The actress, who is set to turn 90 in December, met conservationist David Mills, 77, in 2009 when she visited his British Wildlife Centre near her Surrey home \u2013 which she shared for years with her late husband Michael Williams, who died aged 65 from lung cancer in 2001 after they were married for three decades.<\/p>\n
She told Yours about the time she and David met \u2013 and how they live apart and will never marry: \u201cI went to the (wildlife) centre, met David and I said that I was passionate about all British wildlife and if there was anything I could ever do to help to let me know.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe then asked me to come and open the red squirrel enclosure \u2013 which I did.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we are far better off as we are as we have got two separate houses.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe are either in one or the other and we are four miles apart. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe is not going to propose.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJudi still lives in the home she shared with her former husband Michael and talked about how she has planted trees in his memory for lost loved ones in her woodland.<\/p>\n
\nAlong with trees dedicated to late actors Alan Rickman and Diana Rigg, she has one called \u2018Mike\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nJudy added: \u201cIt\u2019s a lovely tree. It seems only right \u2013he found the house.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actress \u2013 who had \u2018carpe diem\u2019 tattooed on her right wrist a few years ago \u2013 also said she is refusing to slow down as she ages.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWe\u2019ve got to keep going and not think of age too much. You have to think you are about 56.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m a great advocate for not sitting back. I can never think, \u2018Oh, my eyesight\u2019s bad, I can\u2019t possibly do this. I refuse to be beaten by age.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJudy is losing her sight to macular degeneration, which has grown so severe she can no longer drive or read scripts.<\/p>\n
\nBut she says she has refused to give up painting, adding: \u201cI used to paint a lot but because of my eyes I stopped.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cDavid, my partner, said to me, \u2018Why stop. It\u2019s an interpretative art.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo I did start painting again because it doesn\u2019t matter; I am not doing it for anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
