It\u2019s a question many fans are asking following the release of the singer\u2019s biopic, \u201cBack to Black.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/pigeons-and-planes\/a\/pigeons\/blake-amy-winehouse-2016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amy and Blake Fielder-Civil first met<\/a> at a pub in 2005, before getting married on a whim during a trip to Miami, Florida in 2007. Unfortunately, the marriage fizzled out after just two years. Amy and Blake were divorced in 2009. The pair had a son together, Jack, in May 2011, making Blake a father. They later welcomed a second child, daughter Lola Jade, in April 2013. <\/p>\n<p>Blake and Sarah were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biography.com\/musicians\/a60717682\/amy-winehouse-husband-blake-fielder-civil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly married and divorced<\/a>, though actual dates have been kept private making it difficult to piece together a timeline of their relationship. <\/p>\n<p>In August 2012, one year after Amy\u2019s untimely death, Blake was found choking in bed by Sarah, as originally reported by <em>The Guardian.<\/em> Blake was <a href=\"https:\/\/theguardian.com\/music\/2012\/aug\/09\/amy-winehouse-ex-husband-coma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">put in a medically induced <\/a>coma after suffering multiple organ failure. <\/p>\n<p>At the time, Sarah alleged that Blake must have ingested an \u201cillicit\u201d substance during a night out drinking with friends. <\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, Blake recovered from the terrifying incident and claimed he has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/blake-fielder-civil-directly-addresses-32569516\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sober \u201cfor years\u201d<\/a> as recently as April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>As for romantic relationships, Amy\u2019s ex-husband was reported to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/entertainment\/3345659\/amy-winehouses-ex-blake-fielder-civil-engaged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">engaged once again<\/a>, this time to singer Bay Wright in June 2021. So I had absolutely no idea how to make myself clean, let alone somebody else who was a big cog in a machine for a record label, and there were vested interests in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/videos\/amy-winehouse-5-quotes-to-remember-her-by\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amy carrying on performing<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As for having a relationship with any of Amy\u2019s family, Blake has made it very clear he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/blake-fielder-civil-directly-addresses-32569516\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">would like to make amends<\/a> with them \u2014 especially the late singer\u2019s father, Mitch Winehouse. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t need to be best friends but I wouldn\u2019t mind having a conversation,\u201d Blake said in April 2024. Her sophomore album, also titled \u201cBack to Black,\u201d went double platinum in under a year. Unfortunately, at 27 years old, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/celebrity-news\/1887612\/amy-winehouse-fortune-who-inherited-after-singer-died\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amy did not have a will<\/a> set up for her newfound fame and fortune. <\/p>\n<p>Per British law, a person\u2019s inheritance is distributed among their parents, spouse and children. Amy and Blake\u2019s divorced two years prior to her death and did not have any children together, which left Amy\u2019s father, Mitch Winehouse, as the estate\u2019s sole inheritor. <\/p>\n<p>However, Blake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/amy-winehouse-blake-fielder-civil-lawsuit-estate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed a $1.4 million lawsuit<\/a> against Mitch demanding not only a lump sum payout but also a monthly allowance, according to <em>Fox News<\/em>. Blake claimed he had a right to the money because he was with Amy for six years, including their marriage from 2007 to 2009, during which her music made her an international celebrity. <\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was unsuccessful. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-amy-winehouse-s-ex-husband-defends-new-biopic\">Amy Winehouse\u2019s Ex-Husband Defends New Biopic<\/h2>\n<p>Blake recently revealed that he has watched \u201cBack to Black,\u201d directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Despite reviews suggesting the film gave a \u201csympathetic\u201d portrayal to Amy\u2019s ex, Blake disagrees.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/music\/news\/amy-winehouse-blake-fielder-civil-gmb-back-to-black-b2527611.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called the viewing experience<\/a> \u201ctherapeutic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot in a sense of being let off the hook or whitewashed, as [has] been alluded to,\u201d Blake told Good Morning Britain, \u201cjust in a sense of it wasn\u2019t all about addiction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack O\u2019Connell, the actor who plays Blake on screen, has also spoken out to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/back-black-amy-winehouse-biopic-movie-2024-jack-oconnell-blake-fielder-civil-mitch-winehouse-1900996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defend his portrayal <\/a>of the former producer. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0think it\u2019s a very easy narrative to spin.
