ABC revealed that Golden Bachelor<\/em> contestant Joan Vassos<\/strong><\/a> would be the first ever Golden Bachelorette<\/a> on May 14, 2024. As Joan gets ready to begin her journey to find a husband, fans are curious about reality TV\u2019s newest star.\n<\/p>\n During Joan\u2019s stint on The Golden Bachelor<\/em>, viewers learned that \u200bshe works as a school administrator in Rockland, Maryland. ABC describes Joan as \u201ca remarkable woman whose life has been defined by her resilience, zest for adventure and strong family values.\u201d<\/p>\n Joan is the mom of four kids, and a loving grandmother of two. She was previously married to her husband, John, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2021.<\/p>\n The reality television star made it clear that her family is extremely important to her. After her Golden Bachelorette<\/em> casting was announced, she admitted that she would never move away from her loved ones to be with a new partner.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll never leave my family,\u201d Joan told CNN<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThey are the most important people in the world to me obviously, and I would expect that to be the same for the person I end up with because family is so important to me, that would have to be a key part of their personality.\u201d<\/p>\n However, she also clarified how she felt she could make things work with somebody who isn\u2019t from the same place as her. \u201c[We could] maybe spend a couple of months or a couple of weeks at a time [together while figuring it out],\u201d she explained. \u201cMaybe eventually, you figure out a destination that could work for your families or have another house where everybody gets together.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cJoan loves listening to Elton John<\/strong>, hanging with her dog, and cooking a delicious meal,\u201d according to ABC<\/a>. \u201cJoan describes herself as a loving mother and a hard worker who would love to find someone with whom to enjoy life. She\u2019s happiest when she\u2019s at the beach with her family and is looking for a family man with whom to blend her life.\u201d<\/p>\n While Joan was a fan favorite during \u200bGerry Turner\u2019s<\/strong> season of The Golden Bachelor<\/em>, her journey was cut short when she made the tough decision to leave in the third episode. Her daughter had been dealing with a difficult pregnancy and when Joan learned that she had given birth via C-section, \u200bshe pulled out of the show to be by her side.<\/p>\n \u201cMy journey to find love took a detour this week as I traded the mansion for motherhood and headed home to be with my family. Family comes first, period.
