Brooke Schwartz<\/strong> slammed her husband\u2019s former Kansas City Chiefs teammate Harrison Butker<\/strong><\/a> after his controversial graduation speech<\/a> went viral.<\/p>\n

Brooke \u2013 who is the wife of retired Chiefs offensive tackle Mitch Schwartz<\/strong> \u2013 addressed Butker\u2019s comments about encouraging women to embrace their role as \u201chomemakers\u201d in a series of since-expired<\/a> Instagram Stories on Wednesday, May 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to sound controversial since Mitch was teammates with him for many years. I\u2019ve stayed quiet about a lot of things but this is absolutely so gross and backwards to me,\u201d Brooke, 30, began before quoting a line from Butker\u2019s commencement address. \u201c\u2018All of my success is made possible \u2026 etc \u2026 because my wife embraced the most important title of all: homemaker.’\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cThis is what we\u2019re telling young women graduating college? That the most important thing they can become is a homemaker??? What in the Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/em> is this crap?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRaymond Boyd\/Getty Images Despite Harrison Butker\u2019s beliefs, many women help keep things running smoothly for the Kansas City Chiefs. Butker went viral after he gave a controversial commencement speech to the class of 2024 at Benedictine College. While speaking to the students, the Chiefs kicker directly addressed the women graduates and suggested that they embrace [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In another Story slide, Brooke doubled down on her comments about the NFL star\u2019s remarks, writing, \u201cAnd telling young women on their college graduation day, after years of hard work, that the thing they probably most look forward to in life is becoming someone\u2019s wife. I beg your pardon? I value and respect whatever a woman chooses for her life. But it is NEVER, EVER a man\u2019s place to tell women what their roles are.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI\u2019m sad for his daughter,\u201d before wrapping up her thoughts by calling out Butker for quoting outspoken feminist Taylor Swift<\/strong> \u2013 who he referred to as his \u201cteammate\u2019s girlfriend\u201d \u2013 in his speech. (Swift, 34, and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce<\/strong> have been dating since last summer.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it odd he quoted Taylor Swift in his propaganda speech. Is he unaware of her very public views,\u201d she wrote over a screenshot of Swift\u2019s song, \u201cYou Need to Calm Down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Butker was addressing students at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on May 11, when he singled out his female audience during his commencement speech, notably claiming that \u201cit is you, the women, how have had the most diabolical lies told to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cHow many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker then brought up his wife, Isabelle Butker<\/strong>, claiming that she would be the \u201cfirst to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u2019m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith and become my wife and embrace one of the most important titles of all \u2014 homemaker.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Butker received tons of backlash from social media users, celebrities from all walks of the industry were also quick to condemn his speech.<\/p>\n
