Midori Francis<\/strong> is reportedly leaving Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em><\/a> after two seasons on the medical drama.<\/p>\n

Francis, 30, is in negotiations to return for season 21 to wrap up the story for her character, Mika Yasuda, Deadline<\/em><\/a> reported on Wednesday, May 15. However, she will not be a series regular after season 20, which is currently airing on ABC.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> reached out to ABC for comment.<\/p>\n

Francis joined the cast of Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> for season 19 in 2022. She was one of five newcomers at the time who portrayed a new crop of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital interns along with Alexis Floyd<\/strong> (Simone Griffith), Harry Shum Jr.<\/strong> (Benson \u201cBlue Kwan), Adelaide Kane<\/strong> (Jules Millin) and Lucas Adams<\/strong> (Niko Terho).<\/p>\n

The Grey\u2019s Anatomy pilot introduced several characters, including the show\u2019s protagonist, legacy surgical resident Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Spunky, undoubtedly intelligent and full of heart, the show wouldn\u2019t survive without its [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During an October 2022 interview with InStyle<\/em><\/a>, Francis opened up about watching Sandra Oh<\/strong> on Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> in her youth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a big deal to see an Asian actor on screen at that time in primetime who didn\u2019t just have a few lines, but was a huge part of the plot and was so messy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been rewatching some of [Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>], and she\u2019s just so committed and feral and skilled,\u201d Francis said of Oh, 52, who starred as Cristina Yang for seasons 1 through 10. \u201cI remember when I was younger, she was a lot of my friends\u2019 favorite character, and that was so cool to me. That\u2019s honestly a big part of my connection to the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/em> previously reported that Jake Borelli<\/strong>, who has played Levi Schmitt on Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> since season 14, will not return<\/a> as a series regular next season.<\/p>\n

While no longer a series regular, Pompeo still narrates each episode and makes guest appearances throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Millie Bobby Brown, for her part, was relatively unknown when she appeared on a season 11 episode titled, \u201cI Feel the Earth Move.\u201d Jeffrey Dean Morgan, however, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe OG cast has been so down to earth about everything,\u201d Francis told InStyle<\/em> in 2022. \u201cChandra Wilson was giving us tricks about how to memorize big doctor words.
