The Northern Irish-born golf champion, 35, who first met New Yorker Erica, 36, in 2012 at the Ryder Cup \u2013 and with whom he has three-year-old daughter Poppy Kennedy \u2013 filed for divorce from her in papers lodged on Monday (13.05.24), citing their marriage was \u201cirretrievably broken\u201d.<\/p>\n

After the full documents were revealed by outlets including TMZ, which broke the news, it has now been revealed the petition for divorce states the pair had a prenup. <\/p>\n

However, the details of the arrangement between Rory \u2013 estimated to be worth $216 million \u2013 have not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

The papers have also revealed Rory is using attorney Thomas Sasser \u2013 the lawyer who represented golf icon Tiger Woods<\/a>, 48, when his wife divorced him in 2010 in the wake of his cheating scandal.<\/p>\n

\nRory\u2019s filing also calls for shared custody and a parenting plan to be established for his and Erica\u2019s girl Poppy.<\/p>\n

\nThe golf pro\u2019s manager Sean O\u2019Flaherty said in a statement about the divorce news, which was revealed on Tuesday (14.05.24): \u201cRory McIlroy\u2019s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cThey stressed Rory\u2019s desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nSean added there would be no further comment.<\/p>\n

\nRory and Erica are believed to have lived in a 12,800-square-foot, $9.5million mansion in the golfing capital of Jupiter, Florida, with Rory\u2019s golf career earnings coming to around $87 million.<\/p>\n

\nRory has raked in millions being sponsored by the likes of Titleist, FootJoy, Jumeirah, Bose, Oakley and EA Sports.<\/p>\n

\nHis other big-name brand backers include TaylorMade, Nike, NBC Sports\/Golf Pass, Omega and Optum.<\/p>\n

\nRory also announced a new sponsorship deal in 2022 that saw him become a brand ambassador for financial management company Workday.<\/p>\n

\nHis TaylorMade deal, which he signed in 2017, was said to be worth $10 million per year for 10 years.<\/p>\n

\nHe also has a Nike contract that was extended in 2017 for 10 years \u2013 also said to be worth $10 million per year.<\/p>\n

\nIn total, he is estimated to earn around $35 million a year from his sponsorships alone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
