CSI: Vegas<\/i> star Paula Newsome<\/strong> is breaking her silence on CBS\u2019 decision to pull the series from its primetime lineup.<\/span><\/p>\n

Newsome finally addressed the cancellation in an interview with TVLine<\/i><\/span><\/a> days before the CSI <\/i>spinoff\u2019s final episode on May 19.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI got the news from my showrunner [Jason Tracey<\/b>], and I was very surprised because our ratings are so good,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/span><\/p>\n

CBS launched CSI: Vegas <\/i>in 2021, casting Newsome, Matt Lauria<\/strong>, Mandeep Dhillon<\/strong> and Mel Rodriguez<\/strong> in roles new to the long-running franchise. While Vegas <\/i>has reached nearly 6 million viewers in its third season, according to TVLine<\/i>, the show is the network\u2019s least-watched original drama.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur numbers were much higher than a lot of shows on other networks that had been picked up, so that was very surprising, but I know the business is tough,\u201d Newsome continued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that the news has sunk in, Newsome is choosing to make the best of a bad situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth about part of what we do as actors is we sometimes have to \u2018wait in the hallway\u2019 [between roles], and it\u2019s about enjoying the time in the hallway,\u201d she said. \u201cBefore I got CSI: Vegas<\/em>, two minutes before that call I didn\u2019t know a thing about it! Before I got the call for Spider-Man<\/em> [No Way Home<\/em>, where she played an MIT bigwig], I didn\u2019t know anything about it! There\u2019s always time in the hallway, and the most important thing is to enjoy that time, because something is always coming. So make sure that when you have the time off, enjoy it. Travel, relax, work out more.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Newsome, 62, formerly starred on TV\u2019s Chicago Med <\/i>and Barry<\/i> as well as in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>. On CSI: Vegas<\/i>, she plays Max Roby, head of the Las Vegas Crime Lab. Sunday\u2019s series-ender sees her character on the tail of a villainous tech boss who\u2019s using AI robots to manipulate DNA.<\/span><\/p>\n

NCIS debuted in 2003 as a backdoor pilot for JAG, which ran from 1995 to 2005. NCIS, which originally starred Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, entered season 21 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[In the past] a show with our numbers would be on for a couple more seasons, no question,\u201d she said. \u201cBut yeah, it\u2019s a good run. It should be more. I\u2019m very proud of what we did.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
