Sam Rubin, 64, an American journalist who served as the entertainment reporter for the KTLA Morning News, tragically and suddenly passed away last Friday due to a heart attack.<\/p>\n
His son, Colby, 16, joined the KTLA 5 Morning News with a four-minute tribute to his father spoken direct to camera. In it he remembers his father\u2019s support for his aspiring theatrical ambitions, their trips to Disneyland, and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cI idolized you. You are and will always be my hero,\u201d he said. \u201cI never got to tell you that, and I\u2019m so sorry, dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
Celebrities such as Viola Davis, Ryan Reynolds, and more offered their condolences to Rubin’s family on social media.<\/p>\n
Colby also shared onscreen a text exchange with his father in which he told his dad he could not go through with a particular theatrical performance because someone had criticized him. \u201cMy confidence just got shot,\u201d wrote Colby.<\/p>\n
Rubin wrote back, \u201cIgnore the noise. You will get bad reviews for every show\u2026Probably most of the kids feel the same way\u2026but everyone is going to dig deep and do a great job. You have excellent genes. You have every gift. Respect your own talent.\u201d<\/p>\n
