Vogue<\/em> in a detailed profile, one that came out on Sunday, May 12.<\/p>\nThe actress underwent a full hysterectomy in April. This was, she explained, \u201cthe best\u201d decision to halt her body\u2019s production of estrogen \u2014 and thus, to save her life.<\/p>\n
During her Vogue<\/em> profile, Olivia Munn detailed her surgery and why it was the best way of preventing her cancer from returning.<\/p>\n\u201cI have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy,\u201d Munn shared.<\/p>\n

Luminal B breast cancer thrives on estrogen. Her body was naturally producing it and would continue to produce the hormone for years, which would have meant years of this unnecessary risk.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry,’\u201d Olivia Munn shared.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I just kept thinking to myself, \u2018I\u2019m going to remember this, that I missed all these things,’\u201d she admitted.<\/p>\n
Munn added: \u201cIt\u2019s his childhood, but it\u2019s my motherhood, and I don\u2019t want to miss any of these parts if I don\u2019t have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olivia Munn has undergone five surgeries during her battle with cancer<\/h2>\n She has undergone a full double mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and also a nipple delay.<\/p>\n
(A nipple delay is a surgery to essentially allow the nipple to form new connections with breast tissue)<\/p>\n
Prior to her hysterectomy, Munn was taking Lupron to suppress her body\u2019s estrogen production. Taking the hormone suppressor had essentially kept her bedridden.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would wake up in the morning and almost immediately need to get back into bed,\u201d she described.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you asked Malcolm, \u2018Where does daddy work?\u2019 He\u2019d run to his desk, and if you asked him, \u2018Where does mommy work?\u2019 He\u2019d point to my bed<\/a>,\u201d Munn said of her son with John Mulaney. \u201cIt was so sweet. But at the same time, it was breaking my heart because this is his image of me.\u201d<\/p>\nOlivia Munn froze her eggs for the third time ahead of this major surgery<\/h2>\n \u201cAfter my diagnosis, we decided to try one more round of egg retrievals and hoped it was a good month,\u201d Munn shared. Her previous egg harvests were when she was 33 and 39.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohn and I talked about it a lot and we don\u2019t feel like we\u2019re done growing our family, but didn\u2019t know if I would have to do chemotherapy or radiation,\u201d she detailed.<\/p>\n
